Hotel Shakshuka

So this post is very obvious but will fulfill my requirements to both blog and share my tasting of a variety of shakshua.  My family visited the North of Israel on Pesach and stayed at a hotel.  One was not shocked to see on the breakfast buffet a tray of ample servings of shakshua considering that it is a Pesach, non kitniyot AND non-gebrachas friendly offering.

Short order advice - Hotel shakshuka will never be good. The pan is way too large and rarely will the investment be made for the right ingredients or right balance of flavor. Let's not belabor the point too much but you will notice the nearly all restaurants have similar dishes for cooking/serving this item. Perhaps let's be bolder to state that one of the axioms of shakshuka is to serve in a round dish - and not a rectangle pan.  The hotel chefs put on a good show and have lots of eggs sitting in a sea of red, but PLEASE don't call this serious shakshuka.  Stay away no matter how much you think it will be good.
