"Shuk" Shakshuka, Roladin, Derech Hevron

The menu description of the "shuk" shakshuka sounds quite appealing, describing fresh "shuk" vegetables, tomato sauce and of course, eggs.  This breakfast meal comes with shakshuka served in a sizzling frying pan, a side salad with tehina, fresh bread and a beverage.

Unfortunately, Roladin's shuk shakshuka bears little resemblance to the freshness of the shuk.  The tomato sauce was far from fresh and the canned vegetables likewise.  The yolks were left partially runny, which I like, so that was a positive.  Overall the taste was decidedly not fresh.  The bread and salad were good.  The orange juice was not only not fresh, it had a decidedly bad aftertaste.

The service was adequate, especially for a busy Friday autumn morning.

The Roaldin "Shuk" Shakshuka rates a 2 stars out of 5.
